The BC Lions name was selected because of the two famous mountains that tower over the City of Vancouver and bear the name "The Lions". The indigenous British Columbia mountain lion also had an influence on the name because it was renowned for its speed, strength and courage. The 50th Season BC Lions logo depicts the eponymous head of a British Columbia mountain lion and the landmark mountains. The logo seemed like a natural opportunity to tell the complete lions namesake story. The anniversary logo appeared on the team jerseys, letterhead and the business cards of both players and staff. Significant additional club revenue was generated through the sales of high quality souvenir items such as: jerseys, mugs, crests and pins.
